Florent Malouda, a former Chelsea winger, has urged the club’s co-owner Todd Boehly not to sell midfielder N’Golo Kante.
As things stand, Kante will be a free agent this summer after failing to agree to a new contract with the Blues.
The 31-year-future old’s at the West London club is becoming increasingly uncertain, with his contract set to expire in June.
Malouda, on the other hand, believes Boehly should extend Kante’s contract due to his leadership qualities and personality.
N’golo Kante on the verge of leaving Chelsea as a free agent
“N’Golo Kante, like Mount, is important to Chelsea for other reasons, and that is what he represents to the club, what he gives to the team, and the way the fans love him,” Florent Malouda told DAZN Bet.
“I believe it is necessary to keep him at the club, not only as a player but possibly after his career.
“As you can see, he has sacrificed his health for the sake of the club. When he was injured, it was clear that Chelsea were not the same. There is also his personality; this is significant because he is a role model that we must maintain. He is humble and ambitious, and he serves as a role model for the other players.”
