Chelsea’s interest in Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella has been turned down.
Chelsea: The Blues’ proposed deal for the Italian international was met with “a resounding no” from sporting director Piero Ausilio and chief executive Beppe Marotta, according to the Italian website.
Barella was most likely considered as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandez, with a deal for the Argentine international still hanging in the balance on deadline day. TMW believes Graham Potter’s side made the approach because of the sale of Jorginho to Arsenal.

Inter are not in a good financial position, and there were rumors last summer that the Nerazzurri had valued Barella at €90 million (£79 million), making him a cheaper option.
However, the 25-year-contract old’s is set to expire in 2026, and he is regarded as an indispensable player by his club, which would reportedly prefer to sell other first-team players to balance the books.
