Chelsea Manager Graham Potter gave an insight into the chances of the club’s eager fans seeing Mykhailo Mudryk for the first time this weekend on Friday.
Mudryk has, of course, dominated the headlines in West London over the last week.
Chelsea pipped London rivals Arsenal to a last-minute deal for the explosive winger, thanks to a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk that could cost up to €100 million.
Mudryk was unavailable for selection to Graham Potter last time out, with the 22-year-old watching from the stands as his team defeated Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.
Mudryk, on the other hand, has begun to spread among Blues supporters, who are excited about the prospect of seeing Mudryk play in the club’s colors for the first time.
This comes as Chelsea finalizes its preparations for a crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool.
He’s obviously returned from a mid-season break and hasn’t played much recently, but he’s been training well, so we’ll assess him and see how much he can play this weekend.
“He has a chance to make his debut. It’s the extent of his abilities. “I don’t think he’ll play 90 minutes, but he’ll probably have a role at some point in the game.”
Speaking to the media on Friday evening, it came as no surprise when Graham Potter was asked about the possibility of Mudryk getting his Pensioners bow at Anfield.
And Chelsea’s manager hinted that this is entirely possible when he said:
“He’s settled in nicely. He’s a young, exciting player with great one-on-one speed and the ability to attack the back line. Now we just need to help him adjust to the Premier League.”
