According to The Athletic, Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly regrets sending Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku out on loan to Inter Milan last summer.
Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, according to the report, would not have sanctioned such a humiliating admission of defeat by loaning out the club record signing on such favorable terms to Inter Milan.
After second-guessing his decision to sign Lukaku, Boehly took a tougher stance with Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, and Hakim Ziyech later in the transfer window, insisting they could only leave Stamford Bridge on permanent deals for transfer fees that made business sense.
Lukaku has struggled with injuries during his loan spell at Inter Milan, appearing in only 256 minutes of action.
Former Inter president Massimo Moratti called Lukaku’s loan from Chelsea “a huge rip-off.” “He’s hardly ever played.”
