Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Frimpong, 21, is a promising young defender who is making an impression for German club Leverkusen.
He’s an attacking-minded fullback who has been on fire this season, scoring five goals and assisting three others in 21 appearances across all competitions.
The Dutch speedster is currently competing in the World Cup for his country, but he has been an unused substitute in all three group stage games. In addition, he is still waiting for his first senior cap for the Netherlands, so it would be quite remarkable if that happened during the knockout rounds of a World Cup.
Chelsea are interested in Leverkusen’s 21-year-old talent, according to journalist Simon Phillips.
The Blues’ owners are reportedly keeping a close eye on the Bundesliga star, who has also been impressive in the Champions League this season.
However, it appears that a summer move is more likely than a January raid.

Chelsea’s links to Frimpong aren’t solid yet, but it’s great to hear a player admit he’d like to play for Chelsea.
Frimpong, who Sport1 valued earlier this year at €30 million (£26 million), is an excellent transfer target for the Blues.
The young Leverkusen player, in our opinion, could be the ideal competition and cover for Reece James in the right wing-back position.
Graham Potter’s squad is in desperate need of a replacement for James, who is currently recovering from his knee injury.
