Chelsea Football Club are deeply regretting their decision to loan striker Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan during the current season.

According to The Athletic, the Premier League giants are skeptical that allowing the 29-year-old to return to the Nerazzurri on a paid loan deal was the right decision on their part.

Chelsea decided to let Lukaku leave in the summer of 2021, just one year after signing him for a massive €115 million fee.

Four defensive options Chelsea could sign to replace the injury Wesley Fofana in January

The loan agreement, which included a €8 million fee plus performance-related add-ons, reflected the player’s desire to return to Inter and his inability to find form in the Premier League this season.

However, Lukaku’s inability to make an impact at Inter this season due to injury has Chelsea questioning whether they made the right decision.
